August 28th and 30th Museum of London - Procession of Play

Children from Golden Lane Community centre and their families will be demonstrating how to (mis)use the museum for play. How accessible is the museum for children and how ok is it to run your arm along the smooth, wide handrails, pull faces against the glass partitions and roll on the floor? Freedom to follow playful desires and push the limits of museum behaviour will be unleashed upon everyone in the museum all day on the 29th and 30th August. To prepare for the Procession of Play, children and adults will be training top creative practitioners Harriette Ashcroft, Imogen Butler-Cole, Tiu de Haan and Julia Voce in how to use spaces and places playfully. We will also be learning from respected elders about how they played in London during World War II and exploring bodily and with feelings if we might adopt some of their attitudes to possessions, people and places, value the here and now and find ways to play with what we have for free.
