NewsWhat is Street TrainingSubmitted by admin on Thu, 2007-01-11 15:07.
Street Training is It's all and any of the joyful, funny, poetic, challenging things people do as we move through the streets. Every one does something over and above just walking down the street with their walking-down -the -street face on, going shopping and going to work. These things slip through the cracks in most big cities but the personal playful, joyful, subversive things we do make a difference to us, to other people and to places. ( categories: )
Venice Street Training - Architecture Biennale with mufSubmitted by Lottie on Wed, 2010-08-25 13:17.
On the 28th August at 3.30pm performance artist Lottie Child and a group of people, mostly children, who live and work around Via Garibaldi in Venice, will lead a Street Training session for architects and planners. The session will invert educational hierarchies, with adult professionals being trained by children in imaginative responses to the built environment. We will explore the relations between the built infrastructure and the social infrastructure in terms of safety and joy. ( categories: )

Steet Training with Venetian teachersSubmitted by Lottie on Wed, 2010-08-25 10:26.
I met with a group of Venetian teachers in June to explore ways in which drawing and close looking can be applied in new ways in their teaching. I wanted to provide an opportunity for them to look again at the area around Via Garibaldi, introduce them to the British pavilion and the work of muf for the architecture Biennale. We worked with the Biennale education department to enable these links with local schools. This is the first time an architecture practice, exhibiting at the Biennale, has worked with local schools. Venice Street TrainingSubmitted by Lottie on Wed, 2010-08-25 09:43.
Are there things about the design of a public space, street, square or alley that encourage certain behaviours? How do the built infrastructure and the social infrastructure relate? Ten years of research into people’s approaches to safety and joy in city streets is now applied in Venice, Italy in collaboration with muf architecture\art as part of the Venice Architecture Biennale. A series of conversations on aspects of the city will take place 6pm-8pm at Spitalfields City Farm. The topics are: Do you know where your group is? What's everyone talking about?Submitted by Aileen on Sat, 2010-06-12 17:52.
We have made a few changes to the web site to make it easier for Street Trainers to find and talk to each other. Check the Groups section in the Main Menu to find your group or a group near you. If you have already made an account, please check the section "My account" and edit your information to include your group (and any other information about yourself that you want to add), so that other Street Trainers can find you. If you haven't made an account yet, why don't you do that right now? Interested Onlookers are also welcome!
