Submitted by Lottie on Tue, 2011-03-29 12:02

Artist Lottie Child and film-maker Ed Webb-Ingall present their new film based around Street Training with young people from two local estates: Sceaux Gardens and Southampton Way. Together we have been running training courses for local police, architects, housing officials and urban planners exploring the differences between creative and anti-social behaviour. The screening is followed by a discussion.

Bookings can be made on 020 7703 6120 or mail@southlondongallery.org

On the 18th February Street Trainers from Sceaux Gardens Estate delivered a training session for 10 members of Southwark Police. At the end of the session we asked two questions.

"What is the most important thing you have learned today?"

There are easier ways or different ways to interact with young people.

How many officers can fit in a telephone box.

Come to the South London Gallery to see the first screening of the Street Training documentary. It talks about the Street Training we've been doing internationally since 2002 and about the team I've been training with in Camberwell. We are now in top form ready to train policy makers, police, planners, architects and developers. Our first engagement will be to train Southwark Police in February 2010.
