Here are a list of instructions for joyful experience of the streets and public spaces of Peckham, they are the result of a series of workshops with 10 year old children at Gloucester Road primary school.

HelicoptersSubmitted by gafar on Wed, 2008-09-17 22:52
I had lots of ideas for different ways for adults to have fun in the streets. Climbing lampposts, running up walls, throwing helicopter seeds and bounding up steps like an animal (like we practiced in the playground last week). All of these things would be good to do on the tour.

Inviting a Passer-by to do the Mobile LimboSubmitted by abid on Wed, 2008-09-17 22:36
Gafar and I found a big cardboard roll and everyone started to use it to limbo. Lottie asked a young woman who was on her bike if she would like to do the limbo with us. The picture is of us holding up the bar for her. We carried this tube around with us for quite a while, even though it was heavy, until we reached the bridge where it was quite echoey.
Making a wishSubmitted by abigail on Wed, 2008-09-17 22:08
In the park behind Peckham Square I found lots of Dandelions ready for wishing on and thought that this would make a good move for the Street Training tour. I got involved with lots of other things on the way from school to the square, like doing the limbo under a huge cardboard roll that Gafar and Abid were carrying. After lunch I invented a new dance with Yemisi. It had lots of silly steps and really made us laugh. I think that Lottie is going to use some of it in the tour.
Dogs in the streetsSubmitted by sophie on Wed, 2008-09-17 21:50
We went from school to Peckham Square thinking of ways to have more fun in the streets. When we were on the green path a big old English sheep dog came up to me and I patted and stroked it. It seemed friendly. We didn't know where its owner was though and Holly and the other adults were worried about whether it was safe. We agreed that it is safer to ask dog's owners before playing with them because you just don't know what might make them nervous.
Finding applesSubmitted by maria on Wed, 2008-09-17 21:32
Here's me looking for an apple with Sophie. We looked for ripe apples on a tree on the side of the road. There were quite a few but some were sour and one of them had maggots in it! I did not want to eat one but a few people tried them. Here's Sophie eating one of the apples we picked.
Lampost climbingSubmitted by yemisi on Wed, 2008-09-17 21:10
I live near school and so on the way to Peckham Square we stopped there and lots of people climbed off my garden wall to slide down a lamppost. The wall is quite high so everyone had to be careful. This photo shows me on a different lamppost that we thought should be part of the tour. After lunch at Peckham Square I invented a whole new dance with Abigail. Here's Sophie climbing the same lamppost
